Frequently asked questions

The questions asked most often about appointments, preparation for surgery and recovery.

How do I book an appointment?

Call +90 506 700 95 91, send a WhatsApp message to the same number, or complete the form on this website. Form messages are delivered to info@opdraydincer.com.

Where are consultations held?

Consultations and operations take place at Akdeniz Health Foundation (ASV) Yaşam Hospital in Muratpaşa, Antalya, Türkiye.

What should I bring to my first consultation?

Any previous test results (blood tests, ultrasound, CT, endoscopy and pathology reports), a list of the medication you take and reports from any previous operations. These speed up the assessment considerably.

Is the decision to operate made at the first consultation?

Usually not. The necessary investigations are completed, the results are reviewed together and the decision follows a discussion of the options.

What is the difference between open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery?

Open surgery uses a single incision to enter the abdomen. Laparoscopic and robotic surgery work through several small openings with a camera and instruments. Robotic instruments have a wrist joint at the tip and the image is three-dimensional, which is an advantage in confined spaces.

Does a robot perform the operation?

No. The surgeon performs the operation from beginning to end. The robot is an instrument that transmits the surgeon's movements at the console.

Which tests are needed before surgery?

Blood tests, an ECG, a chest X-ray and, depending on the operation, imaging or endoscopy. Cardiology, respiratory or endocrinology review is arranged where required.

I take blood thinners — what should I do?

When to stop blood-thinning, blood pressure and diabetes medication before surgery or endoscopy must be decided with your doctor. Do not stop any medication on your own.

Does smoking affect surgery?

Yes. Smoking delays wound healing and raises the risk of chest complications. Stopping at least several weeks before surgery is advised.

How often will I be seen after surgery?

The frequency depends on the operation. The first review is usually within one to two weeks of discharge; later appointments are planned according to the operation and the pathology result.

I am travelling from abroad. How does the process work?

You can send your existing test results in advance by WhatsApp or email. After an initial review, the consultation, investigations and operation can be arranged on consecutive days to suit your travel plans. Please allow time for post-operative review before flying home; the surgeon will advise when it is safe to travel.

In which languages can I communicate?

Turkish and English. Interpretation for other languages can be arranged through the hospital.

How is my health data protected?

Data shared through the form and other channels is used only for appointment and treatment purposes. See the Privacy Policy page for details.

If your question is not answered here, send it on WhatsApp. Questions that need an answer specific to your condition are best addressed at a consultation.
